Sports - SPGS International

Sports

At SPGS International School Chengdu we passionately believe in ‘sports for all’.

Unlike any other subject, PE’s main medium is movement, so it is all about learning through action which is an integral part of a young adult’s education. Our comprehensive co-curricular programme emphasizes activities that encourage teamwork and collaboration enabling students to develop their social and leadership skills.

  • Teambuilding Programme

We deliver a high-quality and adventurous teambuilding programme for our students. They are challenged to work together in an unfamiliar environment and accomplish goal-oriented tasks, this provides a unique opportunity to develop new skills such as navigating, kayaking, teamwork, empathy and co-operation. These skills an intrinsically linked to the school’s values of achievement, possibility and community.

    Duke of Edinburgh Awards

The Duke of Edinburgh awards youth programme was founded in the UK in 1956 and designed to challenge young people between the ages of 14 – 24 to attain standards of achievement and endeavor in a wide variety of active interests. Students can complete a DofE programme at one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

At SPGSI Chengdu students can participate in a variety of ways such as: coaching volleyball to other students in the school, improving their golf play by setting SMART goals, learning a musical instrument or organising a trip. Taking part in the DofE awards gives students a great sense of achievement and their accomplishments can also demonstrate to universities that they have a range of important skills beyond their academic grades.
